Wietse Waninge


Wietse Waninge is an international swimmer who is swimming for ZPC Amesfoort in The Netherlands led by Tom Rikhof. Wietse studies physiotherapy at the University of Applied Sciences in Utrecht. In 2016 he participated at the European Junior Championships in Hódmezövásárhely (Hungary). In 2018 he qualified for the Post-EJC trajectory.

 

Wietse was born on 31 March 1998 and is swimming since he was 8 years old at ZPC Nunspeet. He is participating on national level since then. Since 2015 is he swimming for ZPC Amersfoort and he moved out to Amersfoort in that year, when he also started with his study in Utrecht. Wietse made big progress since 2015 and he participated at the European Junior Championships in 2016. In 2018 he qualified for the post-EJC trajectory and he wants to qualify for the European Championships later this year. The EC is held in Budapest this summer. Wietse is considered to be one of the best breaststroke swimmers from the Netherlands and has an Olympic dream for Paris 2024.
